Today GPS is a common and extremely useful tool. Europeans wanted to refine its accuracy by developing EGNOS, the precursor of the Galileo constellation.

finally we're getting an independent global navigation satellite system that the US govt. cant just switch off in times of crisis.
space technology is the future, ESA needs its' budget tripled so it can compete more effectively with the other space agencies in my opinion.
