With just a few household items, we can show you how a hard-boiled egg can squeeze right through the mouth of a bottle. The Egg in a Bottle Trick is a science classic, dating back at least a hundred years. It’s a brilliant method of teaching just how powerful air pressure can be and the trick is also a great way of messing with your friends. We won’t stop there, we’ll also show you how to perform a gravity defying version of the trick… it’s an “eggsclusive” upside-down twist!
We’ve found a method to take our famous Naked Egg experiment to a new level. By dropping your Naked Eggs into Karo corn syrup or water, you’ll witness eggs that have the strange ability to grow and shrink. It’s all an investigation into chemical reactions and permeability that is fun and engaging.
We’ve shown you how different sodas will either sink or swim in plain tap water, but what’s the deal with eggs? Drop as many eggs into plain tap water as you want, but they’ll all sink to the bottom. In the Floating Egg experiment, we’ll show you how the addition of something as simple as table salt, can drastically alter what happens to eggs in water.

The challenge sounds so simple… just get the egg into the glass of water, but there are a few obstacles. The egg is perched high above the water on a cardboard tube, and a pie plate sits between the tube and the water. Still think it’s easy? Sir Isaac Newton does.

We’ve made naked eggs, put eggs in a bottle, folded eggs, and we’ve even shown you how to determine whether an egg is hard-boiled or raw. We want to find something new and amazing to do with eggs, and the Incredible Egg Geode is “eggs-actly” what we are looking for.
This experiment answers the age-old question, “Which came first, the rubber egg or the rubber chicken?” It’s easy to make a rubber egg if you understand the chemistry of removing the eggshell with vinegar. What you’re left with is a totally embarrassed naked egg and a cool piece of science.
Most people don’t need matches, safety glasses and hydrogen gas to crack open an egg. But then again, Steve always finds the most unusual method to do the simplest things. Don’t try this at home.
