How does food stay fresh on the ISS?

– How do you occupy yourself during the 2-day Soyuz journey to the ISS?
– How does food stay fresh in space, since there is no fridge on the ISS?

  1. Without air, space is a poor thermal conductor. This means anything at ambient temperature will not get cold any time soon, so it isn't the best way to preserve food, although Skylab had a food freezer.
