So cool! This is why if you put a wet blanket on a fire, it’s important not to take it off too soon! If you take away the heat-absorbing water, the fire can start again!
An e en better secret ingredient is oxyacetylene gas.
Eventually the water will get so hot the latex will burn and it will pop. But your point on convection is understood
Can you make the water boil inside the balloon and expand the balloon?
I took a plastic water bottle and heated it with a mapp gas torch, the bottle melted. I thought that the water would prevent it from melting. Is there a certain temperature that this no longer works or why did it melt?
