A Poem for Europa by U.S. Poet Laureate Ada Limón
U.S. Poet Laureate Ada Limón wrote an original poem dedicated to NASA’s Europa Clipper mission to Jupiter’s moon Europa, which is believed to harbor a vast ocean beneath its icy surface.
Narrated by Limón herself, the poem is entitled “In Praise of Mystery: A Poem for Europa” and it connects two water worlds — Earth, yearning to reach out and understand what makes a world habitable, and Europa, waiting with secrets yet to be explored. The poem will be engraved on a plaque carried aboard the Europa Clipper spacecraft.
The commissioned work was released on June 1, 2023, for NASA’s “Message in a Bottle” campaign, which invites people around the world to sign their names to the poem that will journey to another world. Participants’ names will travel 1.8 billion miles, or 2.89 billion kilometers, aboard the Europa Clipper spacecraft on its voyage to Jupiter and its moons.
The mission is set to launch from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in October 2024, and reach orbit around Jupiter by 2030. Over several years, it will conduct multiple flybys of Europa, gathering detailed measurements to determine if the moon has conditions suitable for life.

Science Launching on SpaceX’s 28th Cargo Resupply Mission to the Space Station
The 28th SpaceX commercial resupply mission to the International Space Station (CRS-28) is scheduled to launch from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida this June.
The scientific experiments and technology demonstrations carried by the Dragon spacecraft include studies of how plants adapt to stress, measurements of genetic structures called telomeres, and satellite projects designed by students in Canada.

Axiom Mission 2 Undocks from the International Space Station (Official NASA Broadcast)
After more than a week aboard the International Space Station, the four private astronauts of Axiom Space’s Axiom Mission 2 (Ax-2) are scheduled to undock from the station at 11:05 a.m. EDT (1505 UTC) on Tuesday, May 30.
Led by retired NASA astronaut Peggy Whitson, the crew of Ax-2—Whitson, pilot John Shoffner, and mission specialists Ali Alqarni and Rayyanah Barnawi—engaged in technology demonstrations, spoke with students around the world, and contributed to scientific experiments ranging from cancer treatments to weather research.
NASA’s integrated coverage of Axiom Mission 2 will conclude after the crew departs from the station in their SpaceX Dragon Freedom spacecraft. Ax-2 will splash down off the coast of Florida later today; follow Axiom Space and SpaceX on social media for Ax-2 splashdown updates:

Picking up lightsabres for Mars
Detect, fetch and collect. A seemingly easy task is being tested to find the best strategy to collect samples on the martian surface, some 290 000 million km away from home.
Testing technologies for Mars exploration is part of the daily job of Laura Bielenberg, an ESA graduate trainee for the Mars Sample Return campaign.
The test takes place at the rock-strewn recreation of the Red Planet at ESA’s ESTEC technical centre in Noordwijk, the Netherlands. The nickname of this test site is the ‘Mars Yard’ and is part of the Planetary Robotics Laboratory.
The tube is a replica of the sample caches that NASA’s Perseverance rover is leaving on Mars hermetically sealed with precious martian samples inside. They are called RSTA, an acronym of Returnable Sample Tube Assembly, and to most people on Earth they look like lightsabers.
Laura is investigating sample tube collection strategies, from autonomous detection to pose estimation of sample tubes on Mars, with a testbed called the RABBIT (RAS Bread Boarding In-house Testbed).The Sample Transfer Arm will need to load the tubes from the martian surface for delivery towards Earth. ESA’s robotic arm will collect them from the Perseverance rover, and possibly others dropped by sample recovery helicopters as a backup.
Besides cameras and sensors, the team relies on neural networks to detect the tubes and estimate their pose. Inspired by the way the human brain works, neural networks mimic the way biological neurons signal to one another.

Launch of Cyclone-Tracking TROPICS CubeSats from New Zealand, Pt. II (Official NASA Broadcast)
NASA and Rocket Lab will launch two small satellites to join two already in orbit for NASA’s TROPICS (Time-Resolved Observations of Precipitation structure and storm Intensity with a Constellation of Smallsats) mission. Liftoff on an Electron rocket is targeted for no earlier than 11:30 p.m. EDT Thursday, May 25 (0330 UTC Friday, May 26) from Rocket Lab’s Launch Complex-1 in Māhia, New Zealand.
The TROPICS mission will study the formation and development of tropical cyclones, making observations of temperature, precipitation, water vapor, and cloud ice more often than what is possible with current weather satellites.

Honoring the 50th Anniversary of NASA’s Skylab: America’s First Space Station
America’s first space station and the first crewed research laboratory in space, Skylab, lifted off on May 14, 1973.
Skylab helped pave the way for permanent operations in low-Earth orbit. Over the course of its human occupation from May 25, 1973, to Feb. 8, 1974, three crews visited Skylab, carrying out 270 scientific and technical investigations in astronauts’ physiological responses to long-duration space flight, Earth sciences, solar physics, and astronomy.
The research conducted on Skylab helped prepare NASA for living and working in space on the International Space Station, and our journey to the Moon, Mars, and beyond.

What would you do after 60 days in bed? 🛌 #shorts
Lying in bed for a full 60 days – with one shoulder always touching the mattress – might sound like bliss, but add cycling, spinning and constant medical tests to the equation and it becomes a challenging experience for the sake of human space exploration.
A group of 12 volunteers are bracing themselves for a bedridden journey that put them into a compulsory reclined lifestyle. Participants are kept in beds tilted 6 degrees below the horizontal with their feet up – meals, showers and toilet breaks included.
As blood flows to the head and muscle is lost from underuse, researchers are charting how their bodies react. Bedrest studies offer a way of testing measures to counter some of the negative aspects of living in space.
During space missions, astronauts’ bodies go through a wide array of changes due to lack of gravity – everything from their eyes to their heart is affected, and muscles and bones start to waste away.

În umbra pandemiei COVID-19, o altă epidemie a luat avânt: aceea a teoriilor conspirației. Acest fluviu al misterului și controversei s-a revărsat peste glob cu o viteză alarmantă, alimentând incertitudinea și tensiunea. De la întrebări care bântuie privind originea insidioasă a virusului, până la îndoieli provocatoare despre măsurile de protecție și siguranța vaccinurilor, aceste teorii au stârnit o furtună de speculații.
Imaginează-ți o lume în care virusul SARS-CoV-2 este o armă biologică produsă într-un laborator obscur sau în care tehnologia 5G este vinovată de răspândirea molimei! Sau poate te-ai întrebat dacă vaccinurile sunt doar niște instrumente de urmărire sau dacă pandemia este, de fapt, un plan bine pus la punct pentru a controla populația mondială.
Într-o lume îngrozită de o criză de sănătate globală, teoriile conspirației despre Big Pharma profitând de pe urma bolii sau despre măști care nu ajută, ci dăunează, sunt la ordinea zilei. Chiar și mogulul tech Bill Gates nu a scăpat neatinse de aceste teorii, fiind pus în centrul unor scenarii incredibile de control global.
Aceste povestiri captivante, însă înșelătoare, au în comun o încredere scăzută în autoritățile științifice și guvernamentale și un apetit pentru mistere și intrigi. Însă atenție! Este vital să ne informăm din surse credibile și să dezvăluim adevărul din spatele acestor povești, pentru a combate dezinformarea și a proteja sănătatea publică. Înarmându-ne cu fapte și logica științifică, putem demonta miturile și deconstrui înțelesurile ascunse, făcând astfel lumină în întunericul conspirațiilor.

Profesorul Răzvan Cherecheș de la Universitatea Babeș-Bolyai este o personalitate de referință în domeniul sănătății publice din România.
Însă Răzvan Cherecheș nu este doar un erudit academic. El este și un comunicator excepțional, cu o pasiune pentru a împărtăși înțelesurile complexe într-un mod care să le facă accesibile tuturor. After Juice launched, flight controllers noticed the ice-penetrating RIME antenna was not fully deployed. They suspected a tiny pin was the culprit.

Andreas Mogensen next mission to the International Space Station | Huginn Mission
The name of Andreas’s second mission to the Space Station is ‘Huginn’. Inspired by Norse mythology, the name is taken from one of two ravens who serve the god Odin. Called Huginn and Muninn, these two birds sit on Odin’s shoulders and are sent flying across the world at dawn. They return at night to inform him of the many events they have seen and heard. In Old Norse, ‘Huginn’ means ‘thought’ and ‘Muninn’ means ‘mind’ or ‘memory’.
ESA astronaut Andreas Mogensen is going on his first long-duration mission to the International Space Station. Andreas will be the pilot on the SpaceX Crew Dragon that will carry him and the rest of Crew-7 to the Space Station – a first for a European!
Representing Europe in space, Andreas will carry out science throughout his mission and bring back the knowledge to Earth, for the benefit of humankind.Visit esa.int/huginn for more information on the Huginn mission.

Axiom Mission 2 Launches to the International Space Station (Official NASA Broadcast)
Axiom Mission 2, set to lift off at 5:37 p.m. EDT (2137 UTC) on Sunday, May 21, is the second all-private astronaut mission to the International Space Station. Ax-2 is launching from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center aboard SpaceX’s Dragon Freedom spacecraft—it’s the same capsule that carried NASA’s SpaceX Crew-4 astronauts to the station in 2022.
During their scheduled eight-day stay aboard the orbiting laboratory, the crew of Ax-2—commander Peggy Whitson, pilot John Shoffner, and mission specialists Ali Alqarni and Rayyanah Barnawi—will engage in technology demonstrations, student outreach, and scientific experiments ranging from cancer treatments to weather research.
Today’s launch coverage is led by Axiom Space, with support from NASA and SpaceX; NASA’s primary mission responsibilities begin during Freedom’s approach to the International Space Station, the start of Ax-2 integrated operations. World’s ice is melting faster than ever
As global temperatures increase, the melting of the massive ice sheets that blanket Antarctica and Greenland has accelerated, making a significant contribution to sea-level rise. In total, Earth is losing around a trillion tonnes of ice each year – which is not being replenished.
