As global temperatures increase, the melting of the massive ice sheets that blanket Antarctica and Greenland has accelerated, making a significant contribution to sea-level rise. In total, Earth is losing around a trillion tonnes of ice each year – which is not being replenished.

Andrew Shepherd of the University of Leeds is a leading climate scientist working with ESA and @NASA. Join Andrew as he discusses how long-term satellite observations from ESA’s Climate Change Initiative are key in monitoring changes in ice sheets over decades.

  1. and no one is doing anything about because it doesn't make money. once the resources have all been depleted and we have massive pollution issues, what else will be exploited for money ?

  2. Your doing it because you have a plan to build and move then kill the outside world. You're all crimanels rulling the earth. This guy's lieing about anything

  3. Climate change is not human relevant…. We as human bases everything on a footprint in the sand. If we base time by grains….not good in a hurricane. Bring back glass and skilled workers. Or we can all die in plastic 3D printed boxes…

  4. actually, a progressive increase in the rate at which glaciers melt is expected behavior as temp rises and ice melts. it's logic, not science. the fact that details like this one are purposefully ignored is unethical and alarming.

  5. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! THIS IS SO SAD! 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
