ESA astronaut Paolo Nespoli landed back on Earth this morning to conclude his 159-day mission to the International Space Station.
Paolo had been serving as the flight engineer for Expeditions 26 and 27 since December. Paolo’s MagISStra mission, the third long mission by a European astronaut on the Station, came to end at 04:27 CEST (02:27 GMT) on the steppes of Kazakhstan as the Soyuz TMA-20 spacecraft fired its retrorockets for a soft landing.

Paolo and crewmates Soyuz Commander Dmitri Kondratyev and NASA’s Cady Coleman boarded the Soyuz on Monday night and undocked from the Station’s nadir
Rassvet port at 23:35 CEST (21:35 GMT).

  6. bentornato a Paolo Nespoli, seguivamo le tue imprese che hai saputo condire a volte con simpatia e freschezza. Paolo Nespoli ha doti da comunicatore che non ho riscontrato in Roberto Vittori. Tutte le mattine mi collegavo con il sito della NASA per vedere nuovi video e anche per fare il tracking della stazione dove si trovava ora lo sto facendo di meno non me ne voglia Roberto Vittori.

  7. @UncleKennybobs Maybe its a possible experiment in combination with the Mars500 studies. You know judging the effects of long-term microgravity. He really seems very tired.

  8. Paolo looked really ill sounds like he vomited at: 3:57 He performed some outstanding work at the ISS glad to see him make home safely.

  10. Is there a video of the interior while ascending? This phase is possibly more dramatic and harder than the way out!!
