Although deep space missions are exciting and bring new tech to the forefront as well as prestige, the fact is we need to be able to to get to and from earth orbit effectively lowing the cost of manned deep space mission is the priority. Launching from earth orbit or lunar orbit will help. Once facilites are established deep space is a matter of choosing destination
