The wire was so hot that it almost burned my finger.
that is actually an electromagnet basically when you drive an electric current through a wire that would make an magnetic field and that's proven when you put a compass near so think about it what if it was in a loop it would be all concentrated in a larger amount in the center and so you get an electromagnet.
