I work in a lab that experiments with countermeasures for the ISS. NASA and NSBRI fund our research and, it is true, our work has become rather political as the government has been hacking and slashing at funds toward education and science for quite some time now. Squabbling over funds makes it difficult to co-operate with others in our field – we have to play everything close to the chest lest we risk sharing too much with a stingy collaborator and lose funding to them. We need more awesome.
