Chevauchée 1355 ⚔️ Battle of Poitiers Part 1 of 2
★ The Battle of Poitiers in 1356 AD was a major encounter of the Hundred Years War. But little attention is given to the Grand Chevauchée (raid) of 1355, conducted by the Black Prince – the son of King Edward III. Chevauchée of 1355 was, in hindsight, the ‘Grand Prelude’ of sorts to the Battle of Poitiers that took place just less than a year later.
Although no battles were fought and no territory conquered during the Chevauchée of 1355, southern France was utterly devastated. The destruction of the rich countryside and urban areas, and the atrocities against the civilian population are among the most brutal military campaigns of the medieval period.
This video is part 1 of a two-part mini series about the Battle of Poitiers, 1356 AD.

how is there a france?
Poitiers is pronounced https :// http://www.dictionary.com/browse/poitiers?s=t
You would think they would all be a bit too tired to fight because of the Black Death a few years prior, but noooope.
I read the black prince was a chivalric example, obviously his chevauchée proves the contrary: he was a mass murderer.
War sucks, no matter the winner and the time period.
The French leader was pariah.
Please make a video about the Battle of Castillon, which actually ended the Hundred Years' War.
And ofc the poor are the only who suffers :/
Basically the black prince went to France with the avengers
Should have checked how to pronounce Garonne or Narbonne before making that video.
I will trust english battle videos when they will make fair ones about Battle of Patay and Battle of Castillon for instance.
For the time being, you can watch the french ones.
fuck you englisch icestoid
Just came across your channel. Love the way you illustrate history with the narrative and animation. Awesome job! Definitely keeps my ADHD in check 🙂
I expected something better.
This is history for children.
