NASA will soon be launching Artemis I, the first flight test of the integrated Orion spacecraft and the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket. Artemis I will fly 40,000 miles beyond the Moon and back, demonstrating our capability to send humans to lunar orbit on the second flight test, Artemis II.
These flight tests will pave the way a new generation of highly talented and diverse corps of astronauts — including the first woman and the first person of color to step foot on the lunar surface during future Artemis missions.
During the Artemis I mission, the Orion spacecraft’s internal and external cameras will capture views of Earth and the Moon as it travels between the two. Are you excited to see some of these Moon Snaps? How about sharing some of your own Moon-inspired art?

NASA is inviting the public to help get ready for the upcoming launch of the Mars 2020 Perseverance Rover by joining a global, collective #CountdownToMars. Favorites may be featured on NASA social media and included in a compilation video on launch day.

Fly Your Satellite! is an educational programme for university students, created by ESA after the launch of seven university CubeSats on the 2012 Vega maiden flight. Six teams participated in the first edition of the programme, which concluded in 2016 with the launch of three satellites, while in parallel a pilot edition was undertaken to deploy a satellite from the International Space Station. The second edition of Fly Your Satellite! is currently ongoing since 2017, and participating university teams are advancing closer towards testing and launch. The call for proposals for the third edition is now open.

The Land3U team consists of one PhD, and five MSc students from Cranfield University’s Astronautics and Space Engineering course. The team’s microgravity experiment proposed to simulate the landing of a 3U CubeSat on an asteroid, as part of ESA Academy’s Drop Your Thesis! 2018 Programme. For the team, the low gravity conditions of the Drop Tower in Bremen, Germany, are perfect as it resembles the gravity conditions surrounding the asteroids. Their CubeSat experiment sought to provide valuable insights into the engineering challenges that must be addressed by future asteroid missions; in particular when attempting to land on the surface of such low-gravity bodies.
