  2. I am very very impressed with Basta here. In pre-modern times it is very very rare for an army to get surprised by a hillside ambush, forced to turn and flee, and then suddenly stop the rout and reorganize itself, to even execute a double envelopment on the pursuing enemy.
    The nomads do it, but it's easier for nomads since they are mostly mounted, the pursuers' cavalry can get easily separated from infantry and get picked off first. Here Basta is also fleeing with infantry, and this makes it more impressive.
