In its quarter-century in orbit, the Hubble Space Telescope has transformed the way we understand the Universe, helped us find our place among the stars, and paved the way to incredible advancements in science and technology. The Hubble story is a human story. Hubble overcame much adversity early on in its mission and demonstrated the great heights NASA is capable of achieving against all odds. Much of that is thanks to the “Hubble Heroes”, including scientists, engineers, and the brave astronauts who flew five Space Shuttle missions to service Hubble.

  1. if you take a water bottle, the amount of water in the bottle signifies the amount of knowledge we know about space. and we still have all the water in the entire ocean left to discover.

  2. Behind every story is another story.  How development and construction of the telescope had to be divvied up among the states and therefore among the chosen contractors in those states and the lobbying money that went into the politician's pockets who brought the jobs to that state.  Not that that is a bad thing in this case.  Could have been for objects of destruction.  In this case the lobbying and politicians lining their pockets paid off in giving us some spectacular pictures to be used as screen savers on our computers.  I got the horse head nebula on mine.  Last month I had the Pork Barrel Galaxy.
